Last week was a reflection for us at TimmerHaus and, we hope, for the participants who joined us for Module Three of our 2023/24 Female Leadership Programme.
And now, with another Leadership Development programme behind us, we recall some of the reflections and learnings that we shared together within the safety of our community: The need to prioritise space in order to visualise our goals and destinations; the importance of making time to invite this awareness and craft a plan that will sustain us in getting there; the ability to recognise what support may be needed (and to ask for it!) and, the reminder to nourish ourselves physically and mentally to endure the inevitable bumps and challenges along the way.
Last week was a reflection for us at TimmerHaus and, we hope, for the participants who joined us for Module Three of our 2023/24 Female Leadership Programme.
Modules one and two – facilitated virtually to-date by the talented personnel at NEP Studios in Belgium – invited our cohort of female leaders to explore numerous themes relevant to women who are navigating executive roles in leadership today. These included coaching, mentorship, the importance of male allies, the power of an authentic PDP in support of career development and the evolution of gender parity.
Module three, held face-to-face in Copenhagen, allowed us to embrace the challenging topic of how to achieve a more positive work-life harmony alongside of a growing professional remit.
One of the largely unreferenced challenges met by women during their career advancement is the untimely interference that the menopause can invite. This topic, shrouded by multiple different cultural norms and improprieties, remains a difficult theme to explore, with societal reactions ranging from dismissive neglect, to outright ‘taboo’, to a wide number of other controversial extremes.
To assist us in easing it out into the open, and to dispel some of the myths surrounding it, we were joined by the esteemed Professor Matthew Cripps, who currently leads the National Menopause Improvement Program within the NHS in the UK. The content of his contribution enlightened us all and promoted some helpful and healthy debate which we are hopeful will influence additional support for our female leaders now and the leaders of the future.

We are grateful to our lovely participants for their collaboration and participation across these modules and as we enter another month, we wish you all a prosperous ongoing career journey!
